Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin had an inspiration to break a long-standing Guinness Book of World Records largest cheese board record held by Denmark. Captivate Exhibits was asked to design and build the board that replicated an existing commercially available cheese board, only much larger, that met all the criteria as dictated by the strict Guinness BWR rules and regulations. The board was created by Captivate craftsmen at our Brookfield shop over a three-week period. The board is constructed using a variety of materials including oak, oak plywood and leather. It is extremely heavy duty as the cheese board not only needs to look authentic but also support the load of over 14,000 lbs of Wisconsin Cheese! The modular design allows to board to be assembled in its full-size configuration, approximately 10’ x 40’, or smaller in increments of 8’. The board’s first viewing was in Madison, Wisconsin, where it received the coveted GBWR award. Over 12,000 servings of Wisconsin cheese were distributed to the crowd gathered on the Capitol Square to see the board and taste the product. It has been on a national tour including San Francisco, Chicago, NYC and has had a national appearance on Fox TV on Fox and Friends.
